so long they’ve been fighting-

with no end in sight.

they’ve been oppressed, hushed, and we’ve driven out the light.

when will the monster that’s been hiding behind our irrational fear 

finally come near- 

and embrace black lives? 

when will we cease the schemes we connive?

why are we afraid of the power they have united? 

when will all our wrongs be righted? 

so long we’ve been hurting them and making their lives shatter-

I just wonder: 

when will black lives finally matter?
